woot woo

Our house needs some serious maintanence. My sink takes like a gazillion hours to drain, my toilet doesn't really flush well, it just shoots shredded toilet paper back up. Our oven is terrible. Only one element works, and the door hardly closes. Dave tried to open the drawer under it the other night, and the door practically fell off! Arg. Not to mention our ....um.. what's it called. Thermastat. There's no cover on it, so the mercury is just in this tube, open on the top. It flashes and shocks you if you touch it.

As you can see from the pictures below, we went to Lake Louise for the somethingth annual international ice sculpting competition. It was amazing... some of those ice sculptures were unbelievable. So detailed. It's hard to see in the pictures on here, but it was crazy. We also went skating on the lake, around the ice castle.

When we came back to the house, Dave taught me some Salsa dancing moves, hehe.... He's in a Salsa club at school. lol Some time there aren't a bunch of people watching, I'll have to get him to show me some more. It's pretty fun.

Spring??

Hello. Not much worth mentioning has happened lately. Things have been pretty...normal. It's spring time here in Canmore. Yes, in January. It's ridiculously warm. It's a gorgeous sunny day out. Yesterday Joy and I went for a walk with Rachel M., and it was almost t-shirt weather. So nice!!

Yesterday was Michael's 30th birthday, we went to the Grizzly Paw to celebrate. Good times. I went over to his house on Friday to play poker with he, Andrew and Rachel. Michael schooled us. It was terrible.

Joy and I had a multiple-hour cleaning of the kitchen today. This place is disgusting. We are getting so fed up. Neither of us cook much, but it seems like no one else cleans. I wouldn't want to cook in that kitchen, it is so disgusting. People do not clean up after themselves, or do dishes. I cleaned a cutting board today that Dave used when he cooked for us, two weeks ago. Ridiculous. We cleaned flour up that has been covering the counter since Saturday. How does that get left? Joy and I sit back and watch, hoping that whoever makes the mess with take iniative and clean up, but it never happens. GAH. Food will boil over on the stove, and does it get cleaned up? No. Every time you use the burner, the house fills with smoke, and no one does anything about it. Good thing our smoke detector doesn't work. I'm not even sure we have one. Sooner or later they're going to burn the house down.

PUT THE BUTTER BACK IN THE FRIDGE!!!!!!

Who is your Daddy, and what does he do?

So, I'm home alone on Friday night, and the phone rings. I pick it up and a man's voice says, "I have a question for you" I say... "ok..." and then he says "Who is your daddy, and what does he do?" I was just like... what the heck. I started laughing, and it just kept repeating, and saying things like "Come on. Tell me now. Who is your Daddy and what does he do?" By then I could tell it was a recording (Arnold, no less), but it was still creepy. I didn't know who the heck it would be. I could hear someone breathing, but no one was saying anything, except Arnold. Finally after a few minutes, I hear Jared say "Bryan Gillmore" and hang up. lol... I should have known it was them! They called back and I had a nice long 40 minute chat with Jared :)

After that, Dave and Jody came over. Dave cooked us supper, a curried chicken and rice thing. It was pretty good, I wasn't sure if he could actually cook, but I was pretty impressed :) We played cards for awhile, and even tho Dave told me he's going to beat me at everything now, he wasn't doing so hot, hehe. We stayed up until 3:45, and then I was soooo tired the next day at work. Bah.

Dave came over, yet again, on Saturday, and he brought Erika!!! (As you can see, from the pictures below). I've never met someone who loves their cat as much as Dave loves Erika :) He's so funny when he talks about her. He thinks she should be a model kitty, cos she's so pretty. She is a very nice cat. She just sat in the corner for a long time, but eventually got used to us, and came out and made the loop around the coffee table, getting petted by everyone :) She is soooo soft and fluffy :) When Melissa went to bed at 11:30, she told Dave to go home, and stood there until he did. Cos 'Hannah needs sleep'. Yes, Mother. And the next day I defrosted freezers all day, so all I had to do was sit and hold up a hair dryer. No energy required.

Last night Joy and Melissa went to church in Lake Louise, but I didn't want to drive all the way there for church, it's like an hour away or something. And Rach was still sick in bed. Joy said that Michael bet her that Dave would be at our house when they got home...and...he was. lol. He and I watched "The Exorcist". The original, of course. I've always wanted to see it, but no one has ever wanted to watch it with me. This summer, Levi and Dave N. were talking about how scary it is, but that just made me want to see it more. Dave F. had never seen it, so I told him he had to watch it with me. It wasn't really what I expected. I didn't really find it that scary just... gross and disturbing. More gross than anything. We kept talking about the poor girl, having to act out that stuff. Holy crap. She must be traumatized. I would be, if I had to act like that. He left at 3:45 again. Now I'll have this week to catch up on sleep, in preperation for this weekend, I'm sure, haha.

Are my underwears showing??

Last night we had our staff Christmas party. None of us really wanted to go, but Steven bribed us with giving us the day off if we'd come. We had to get all dressed up - yes I actually wore a skirt - and went to the Quarry, which is a pretty nice restaurant/bar here in Canmore. They rented out the place, so it was just us. Free drinks and free great food. I had the buffalo steak. I was a little sketched out a first, but it was soooo good! Three too many screwdrivers, but the night was ok.... Dave met us there when it was over, which was pretty funny. He just walked in and everyone was like.. who the heck is that. And Rach, Melissa, and I left with him. Today apparetly Trudy was like, who is that guy that can walk in the place and walk out with three ladies! hehehe.. well Dave can. Anyway, we went back to the house and watched the Emporers New Groove. That is such a funny movie, I never get tired of it! "Is that my voice? Is that MY voice??' hehe...Then, well, Dave left at 6am this morning. Another all-nighter. Honestly, Dave, you just can't drag yourself away :) It's really funny to watch you working yourself up to leaving, tho. Today had to have been the hardest yet. Especially when you fell asleep for those 5 seconds.
It's finally snowing! I don't get this place. The weather is retarded. It's like above freezing during the days... we have no snow!! Gah! This is the mountains! There is SUPPOSED to be snow!!!!!!!!

Happy New Year!

Well well well. I forgot to write anything when I put up all those pictures yesterday. Those were all from New Years Eve. We went to Michaels for a while, then went skating on the pond, which is a big tradition in Canmore apparently - there was a ship load of people there - and then went to watch the fire works. They were pretty impressive! Some awesome new ones that I've never seen before. I haven't skated in a long time, especially on hockey skates, so it was interesting!!
We all worked on New Years... Joy and I were supposed to have the day off, but they made everyone come in. It wasn't too bad tho, the rooms weren't nearly as messy as I'd expected. Dave came over later, we stayed up til 6:30am talking, and he was supposed to be going back to Calgary for class at noon. lol Luckily I didn't have to work so I slept most of the day. But it turns out he didn't need to go back til today, so last night we went skating then came back here to watch Fight Club. Good movie! Anyhow, he's gone back to school, so things should slow down a little. .... which is kind of sad.
